In order to enhance the value of the fines generated by the ore extraction, the fines are agglomerated. The high quality of the agglomerated product increases the productivity of the furnaces.

 

The pelletization

The crushed limestone and dolime are used to make traditional pellets as well as direct reduction pellets. The pellets contain elements which will form the required blast furnace slag. The finely ground limestone is used as a fluxing agent in the mineral mix.

The agglomeration

If the productivity of the agglomeration process must be improved, lime will partly replace limestone.  If fumes desulphurization is necessary, the injection of limestone during the fumes treatment will provide the solution. The agglomerate contains elements which will form the required blast furnace slag.
